Alcoholic hepatitis is liver inflammation caused by the consumption of alcohol. It is most likely to occur in those who drink excessively over a period of many years, but may also occur in moderate drinkers. "Moderate" is defined as more than one drink per day for women and more than two drinks per day for men.
